Bright, Open Facilities
The Department of Medical Oncology, located on the ninth floor of Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, affords a bright, cheery atmosphere for patients and families. This department has a 36 bed nursing unit and is also the location for the outpatient chemotherapy infusion clinic which has 12 treatment areas. There is a satellite pharmacy with a full-time specialized oncology pharmacist and oncologist technician housed on the unit. Comfortable seating areas are situated to provide patients and visitors both sunshine and panoramic views.

The following services are available to oncology inpatients and outpatients 24-hours-a-day:
Medical Oncology Team
The Medical Oncology Department began over 25 years ago and the healthcare team provides over 250 years of experience in caring for patients with various types of cancer in all stages of the disease.
Team members work closely with the hospital's active medical oncologists/hematologists:
- Dr. Salomon Asmar
- Dr. Dwight Kaufman
- Dr. Eugene Reese
- Dr. Clyde Smith
- Dr. Archie Wright
- Dr. Brian Walker
Also collaborating with physicians and nurses are the department's case manager, cancer research nurse liaison, pharmacist, dietitian, social worker, as well as pastoral care staff and volunteers.

Foundation Fund
The Cancer Center Foundation Fund provides medication, nutritional supplements, and transportation to cancer treatments for patients lacking sufficient financial resources to cover these basic needs.
