Cardiovascular surgery has been a service of the Tennessee Heart Center since 1983. Since that time more than 10,000 open-heart surgeries have been performed. The surgical team is made up of cardiovascular surgeons, anesthesiologists, physician assistants, nurse specialists, perfusionists, and technologists. The collaborative effort of all of these individuals has placed the Tennessee Heart Center among the top of the nation's hospitals performing coronary artery bypass surgery. Various services provided include coronary artery bypass, valve repair or replacement, and minimally-invasive coronary artery bypass procedures. The Surgery Center utilizes four surgical suites specifically designed for heart surgery.

     State of the art technology and equipment as well as an outstanding cardiovascular team have resulted in excellent patient outcomes for the heart program.
