BabyFest "Beach Babies" 2009 was a tremendous success March 7 at Jackson Fairgrounds Park. Thanks to everyone who participated. Approximately 2,800 people participated in this wonderful, educational community event.
BabyFest is presented annually by the Women and Children's Center at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital to new and expectant parents. It is a day of education, entertainment, and fun at Jackson Fairgrounds Park.
Through contests, educational seminars, and booths, education was presented that parents (and grandparents, too) need. Dads were invited to participate in the Diapering Contest (aka Daddy Dooty). Moms compared and compete in the Biggest Pregnant Belly Contest. Babies did what they do best in the Crawling Races. Turner Dairies returned with the ever-popular Pickles and Ice Cream refreshment area.
Local physicians and healthcare providers participated in health sessions and answered numerous questions from sometimes anxious parents.
Developmental screenings were available for children ages four months to three years. Car seat safety checks were also available and conducted by certified safety technicians.
Admission is $2 for anyone age 12+. For more information, call 731-541-6448.
