Time. Time is something everyone has but special people choose to give some of theirs to helping others. If you are looking for a place to share your talents, please consider Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. There are over 400 active volunteers who help patients, visitors, and staff each day. Volunteers are people of all ages, from all walks of life, both men and women, who enjoy being of service and helping others.
Volunteer Applications
If you are interested in volunteering:
- Be out of high school and over 18 years of age (if under 18, see Junior Volunteer information)
- Make a commitment of four hours per week
- Print the application and mail to:

When she receives the completed application, she will contact you for an interview to discuss the opportunities to volunteer and the orientation process.
Some of the various areas and job duties to volunteer are:
- Providing helpful information and directions to families and visitors
- Assisting in the Gift Shop
- Providing support for Critical Care and Emergency Department families
- Providing spiritual support
- Assisting nursing staff with patient care
- Escorting patients
- Delivering cards and flowers
- Providing a smile and lending an ear to the lonely
- Providing clerical support
