The Tennessee Cancer Coalition presented the very first Award of Prestige to the Kirkland Cancer Center at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital on November 30, 2010. The Tennessee Cancer Coalition was established in 2001. The Coalition is a group of organizations, institutions, and individuals across the state whose mission is to reduce the burden of cancer on the citizens of Tennessee by implementing a collaborative statewide plan driven by data, science, capacity and outcomes.
Rob Clark, TN Cancer Coalition chairperson, presented the award to Gina Myracle, Executive Director of the Kirkland Cancer Center, to recognize the Kirkland Cancer Center for making efforts to meet the standards for accreditation of the Commission on Cancer and for its dedication to the mission of the Tennessee Cancer Coalition. The Kirkland Cancer Center is the only cancer center between Memphis and Nashville to be accredited.
Applying for and maintaining accreditation is a voluntary commitment that ensures a cancer program's patients will have access to the full scope of services required to diagnose, treat, rehabilitate, and support patients with cancer and their families.
