The Echocardiology Lab is where echocardiograms are performed. An echocardiogram (ultrasound of the heart) is an examination of the heart with high frequency sound waves that provides the physician with two-dimensional images of the heart. This examination provides the physician with information about the size, function (contraction), blood flow, and structure of the heart. This test does not use x-rays or dyes and has no known side effects or discomfort.
The Echocardiology Lab also provides other examinations which may be ordered by a physician. Preparation for these tests vary and will be explained by the physician. These include Stress Echocardiograms (treadmill or chemical) and Transesophageal Echocardiograms.
Our Vascular Lab provides a multitude of examinations to evaluate the peripheral arterial and venous systems for disease. Some of these tests include: Carotid Duplex Ultrasound, Venous and Arterial Ultrasound, and non-imaging vascular pressure.
