Gabriel's Garden Dedication Ceremony
Gabriel's Garden Playground at North Park Dedication Ceremony
Join with The City of Jackson Fishman Trust Fund, Madison County, Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, Jack Hale Hayes Memorial Fund, and the many other supporters in opening Gabriel's Garden Playground at North Park, Jackson, TN. Constructed as a playground for all children, all abilities, Gabriel's Garden will serve as an inclusive playground where children, regardless of physical ability, can play side by side.
Darlene Walden partnered the dream of her children, Kati and Russell, with an idea for an all accessible playground fostered by Mark Baldwin of the Jackson Civitan Club.
Walden states, "The timing was right to build Gabriel's Garden. My children, Kati and Russell, dreamed of a place where they could play with their brother, Gabe. Gabe is diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder called Angelman Syndrome and is confined to a wheelchair. Russell shared hope and inclusion with the message of a playground for everybody. Kati developed the playground theme of rainbows believing that we are like the colors of a rainbow, each one unique. But when we are all together, the picture is complete and beautiful." The dedication and grand opening of this accessible playground is the result of dreams, teamwork, and generosity of the entire; community."
The dedication ceremony features a time of recognition, appreciation, and ribbon cutting officially opening Gabriel's Garden. Dedication is October 11, 2007 at 10 a.m.
