Our goal is for you to feel comfortable and well-informed about your sleep study. Our resources will help you learn more about sleep studies, find out what you need to bring to yours, and discover simple approaches to achieve better sleep. If you have questions, please feel free to contact us at 731-541-6834, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
What to Know Before You Come
The night of your sleep study several small "sensors" will be placed on your scalp, face, chest, chin and legs. The sensors on your scalp will be placed on with EGG paste. This paste is water soluble and will wash out when you shampoo your hair. Adhesive electrodes will be used for the other sensors. The sensors will be applied each night that you are in the Sleep Center.
The following are a few things we ask of our patients:
Since the sensors are placed on the skin and scalp, we ask that all patients bathe and shampoo their hair before coming to the lab in order to have a strong conducting signal from electrodes. Please DO NOT use hair spray, hair oils, lotions or gels on your hair (scalp). Do not use lotion on your body since this will interfere with the adhesive electrodes.
Please eat dinner before reporting to the lab. You may bring a snack if desired (no caffeine or chocolate).
Bring you usual sleeping attire (pajamas, gown, etc.)
Please bring your toiletries (soap, shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, etc.), a change of clothes, etc., that you will need while here in our center. Feel free to shower and make ready for the next day.
No caffeine (coffee, tea, soft drinks) should be consumed after arriving for your sleep study.
Because we care about your health, our property is Tobacco-Free.
Please feel free to bring your own pillow from home, books, magazine, etc., that you may have need for while here in our center.
Please bring any needed medication from home. We do not stock any medication in our center.
It is of utmost importance that you arrive on time for your appointment. If you cannot keep your appointment, please call 731-541-6834 two days prior to your sleep study, so that we may cancel your study.
Take the Sleep Aware risk assessment test to identify your potential risk of Obstructive Sleep Disorder and any other health concerns. If you are at risk, our staff will contact you to set up an appointment.
