Parents seldom think of their child becoming sick or getting hurt, but accidents and illnesses are often a part of childhood. Children who become ill or are injured need medical treatment designed to meet their special needs.

Our Pediatric Unit, located within Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, focuses solely on the needs of children. This dedicated area, cheerfully decorated with bright colors from floor to ceiling, serves children and teens of all ages in need of tests, surgery or treatment. Our 13-bed unit is staffed by a team of caring professionals such as registered nurses, respiratory therapists, pediatric pharmacist, child life specialist, social workers, case managers, dieticians and maternal child assistants who have a child's comfort and needs as their top priority.  Each child is cared for as an entire person with special attention given to his emotional and psychological needs as well as his physical needs.
