Hospice offers a bereavement counselor, social workers, chaplains, and trained bereavement volunteers who can meet individually for one-on-one grief support or with small groups. These visits may be in person or over the phone. To arrange for a support visit or call, contact Hospice of West Tennessee at 731-664-4220 or 1-800-286-5717.
Monthly literature regarding coping is available to assist with understanding the many emotions and reactions that are experienced during the 12 months following a loss.
Hospice of West Tennessee joins hundreds of other hospice providers across the country in a National Bereavement Teleconference. It is broadcast in the J. Walter Barnes Conference Center at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital with a relevant subject on grief and coping each year.
Hospice Memorial Services are held to provide an opportunity for Hospice of West Tennessee patient families, friends, and caregivers to celebrate the lives of loved ones who have passed away during the past year.
Many families request that friends and relatives make memorial contributions in lieu of flowers or other remembrances at the time of a loved one's death. A gift may also be made in honor of an anniversary, birthday, or other special occasion. These gifts are tax deductible, and may be donated to the Hospice Fund of the West Tennessee Healthcare Foundation (731-984-2140).
