This year marks an extraordinary milestone for our organization – 75 years of continuous service to the community through high-quality, compassionate healthcare. Reflecting on this legacy isn’t just about acknowledging the passage of time; it’s about honoring the generations of people whose lives have been touched, healed, and strengthened by our mission. It’s about the families we’ve cared for, the crises we’ve weathered together, and the hope we’ve carried forward – one patient, one heartbeat, and one breakthrough at a time.

More than Medicine: Our Commitment
Healthcare is deeply personal. Behind every medical record is a story – a new baby’s first breath, a grandfather’s heart surgery, a teenager’s illness, a cancer survivor’s victory. I’ve encountered all of these experiences right here in our system, and I’m so grateful for the providers and staff that have been here for me and my family through all of these life-changing events. I’m also grateful that, for 75 years, our mission has never wavered: to care for every patient as though they were family, and most of the time, they are. We have been here to improve the health and well-being of the communities we serve while providing exceptional and compassionate care, all without relying on local taxpayer support.
Serving the community in this way means being present in both moments of joy and moments of pain. It means staying by the bedside through storms and pandemics. It also means adapting to changing needs, growing services, and reaching farther – not for recognition but because our community depends on us.
Anchored in the Past, Focused on the Future
Seventy-five years ago, in August, 1950, we started with a single 123-bed hospital. Today, we are a comprehensive, regional healthcare system with clinics, hospitals, and outreach programs spanning an entire region. But, no matter how much we grow, we remain anchored with the same values; continuous improvement, accountability, respect, excellence, and stewardship.
Our commitment is not only to healing the sick but also to preventing illness, supporting mental health, addressing disparities, and strengthening the well-being of entire communities. From school health programs to mobile services, and from telehealth to specialty care, our reach has expanded – always with local faces and personal care at its heart.
Our legacy is woven by the thousands of employees, providers, volunteers, and partners who have given their talents to serve. Many of our staff have worked here for decades. Some, like me, were even born in our hospitals and have returned to serve in them. Others are new voices bringing fresh innovation and energy. Each generation carries forward the lessons of those before them – that true healthcare is a calling and it is about listening, showing up, and staying committed even when it’s hard.
Looking Ahead
As we celebrate 75 years, we don’t just look back with pride. We are looking forward with determination. The challenges of providing rural healthcare, treating chronic diseases, lower reimbursement, and workforce shortages are real, but so is our resolve.
Our future is dependent on investing in the next era of care: new technologies, smarter systems, recruiting new talent, more access points, and stronger community partnerships. But at the core of every decision is the same question we’ve asked since the beginning: What do our communities need, and how can we meet the need and make a difference?
Thank You

We owe this milestone to the people we serve. Your trust, your resilience, and your stories have shaped who we are. Thank you for allowing us to be part of your lives – in small moments and in life-changing ones.
Here’s to 75 years of service, and to many more with the same purpose that started it all: to be THE COMMUNITY’S CAREGIVER!
