Douglas Taylor, MD, born and bred in Tennessee, is originally from Memphis. He enjoys providing contemporary, high-quality patient focused care to his native and surrounding community. At the University of Tennessee Department of Neurosurgery, he received exceptional training in treating various neurological conditions of the brain, spine, and peripheral nervous system. Dr. Taylor has dedicated a considerable amount of time mastering minimally invasive techniques for complex spine pathology. He has since developed the robotic program here at West Tennessee to further enhance the minimally invasive and stereotactic techniques he provides for both brain and spine patients. Dr. Taylor’s journey included a fellowship in pediatric neurosurgery and epilepsy in the United Kingdom.
During his final year of training, he concentrated on functional neurosurgery techniques, particularly deep brain stimulation, and Incisionless Focused Ultrasound technology. His areas of expertise encompass neuro-oncologic diseases of the brain and spine, degenerative spine disease, tremor, trauma, and compressive peripheral neuropathies.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Douglas Taylor cherishes spending time with his wife, son, and three daughters. He finds joy in jogging, cooking, traveling, and playing music in his spare time.
