Bio
Douglas R. Taylor, MD, a born and bred Tennessean, originally from Memphis, feels privileged to have returned to complete his medical training. At the University of Tennessee Department of Neurosurgery, he received exceptional training in treating various neurological conditions of the brain, spine, and peripheral nervous system. He dedicated considerable time to mastering minimally invasive techniques for complex spine pathology. Dr. Taylor’s journey included a fellowship in pediatric neurosurgery and epilepsy in the United Kingdom. During his final year of training, he focused on functional neurosurgery techniques, particularly deep brain stimulation. His areas of expertise encompass neuro-oncologic diseases of the brain and spine, degenerative spine disease, tremor, facial pain, trauma, and compressive peripheral neuropathies. Outside of medicine, Dr. Douglas R. Taylor cherishes spending time with his wife, son, and two daughters, with another child on the way. He finds joy in jogging, biking, backpacking, traveling, and playing music in his spare time.
