Bio
Hayden Alford, MD, is a surgeon seeing patients at West Tennessee Medical Group Jackson Surgical Associates. A native of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Dr. Alford graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the Virginia Military Institute, where he was a full-scholarship athlete and served as quarterback and punter for the Division I football team. He was awarded the prestigious Dave Hart Post-Graduate Scholarship by the Southern Conference for his excellence in academics and athletics.
Dr. Hayden Alford earned his medical degree from East Tennessee State University’s Quillen College of Medicine, where he held several leadership roles, including Public Relations Officer for the Class of 2020 and President of the Tennessee Medical Association student chapter. He was also the recipient of the Philip John Hinton, M.D. Career in Surgery Award for his promise in the field.
In 2020, Dr. Hayden Alford matched into the General Surgery Residency Program at the University of South Alabama, where he has received comprehensive training in a range of surgical disciplines. He is a member of the Arnold P. Gold Humanism in Medicine Honor Society and the American College of Surgeons.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Alford enjoys golf, research, and giving back through various community and volunteer initiatives.
