Bolivar, Tennessee (July 28, 2025) – West Tennessee Healthcare hosted a special groundbreaking ceremony celebrating the start of construction on the new Bolivar Hospital. This event marks a major milestone in the system’s commitment to strengthening healthcare access in Hardeman County and surrounding areas.

In July 2023, Bolivar General Hospital, Inc. was awarded $9.61 million from the Tennessee Department of Health through the Healthcare Resiliency Program Capital Investment Program (HRP-CI). These funds, along with generous community support, will help fund the construction of the new facility.
The new West Tennessee Healthcare Bolivar Hospital will include inpatient beds, outpatient services, an emergency room, and negative-pressure isolation rooms to help manage potential infectious disease outbreaks in the future. The modern facility is designed to be cost-effective, efficient, and responsive to the needs of rural patients and families.
The hospital will be built on land generously donated by the City of Bolivar, located on Vildo Road off Highway 64—underscoring the city’s long-standing commitment to the health and well-being of its citizens.
“Today isn’t just about turning dirt—it’s about turning a page in the story of healthcare in Bolivar,” said Tina Prescott, President and CEO of West Tennessee Healthcare. “This new facility will bring modern, compassionate care to the people of Hardeman County and beyond. It’s a commitment to care for our neighbors, right where they live.”
Construction will officially now begin and is expected to bring lasting impact to healthcare services in the region for generations to come.
