Boutique-Inspired Care for Women’s Health

March 31, 2020

When you think of women’s health services, a boutique probably isn’t the first thing that comes to mind. But maybe it should be!

Women face unique health challenges and issues throughout their lifetimes. So, caring for their health and well-being requires a personalized approach.

That’s where boutiques come into play. Boutiques are known for giving customers personal attention in an environment that focuses on quality and the overall experience.

So, why not bring that focus into the women’s health realm?

Revolutionizing Women’s Health Care
In an effort to bring that type of experience to women’s health, two longtime area physicians and a nurse practitioner have teamed up with West Tennessee Healthcare to launch a boutique- inspired clinic designed just for women.

West Tennessee Medical Group GYN Specialists is the first clinic in the area with the sole focus on women and their gynecological needs.

With more than 75 years of combined experience, Jeff Ball, MD, and Don Wilson, MD, have spent their professional careers in the Jackson area and have tremendous knowledge, technical skills, and compassion for their patients. They are joined in the practice by Amy White, a women’s health nurse practitioner, who brings to the clinic her vast knowledge of treating women in west Tennessee for nearly 20 years.

“Partnering with West Tennessee Healthcare for this gynecology-only clinic means women from across the region have access to excellent care focused solely on them that is close to home,” Dr. Wilson says.

A Specialized Focus on Gynecology
While the concept of a clinic is relatively new, it is not unheard of for an OB/GYN to choose to focus on gynecology as his or her career progresses. For patients, it means that everything about the clinic is concentrated on women’s non-pregnancy related issues.

“Today, women are more proactive about health care and better informed than ever before, and we appreciate and respect that,” Dr. Wilson says. “Because of that, we want to get the basics right. This new venture means women will have access to providers who are at the forefront of women’s health in an environment that is convenient, aesthetically pleasing and focused completely on them.”

Besides preventive care, the clinic will also provide a full range of gynecological services, including:

  • Infertility treatment and counseling
  • Hormonal management including innovative hormone pellet therapy
  • Menopause management
  • Vaginal rejuvenation procedures
  • Screenings for cancer and other conditions, including genetic testing

While the clinic will provide some wellness care to patients, its goal is to augment the care they receive from their primary care physician.

If surgery is necessary, West Tennessee Medical Group GYN Specialists also offers surgical expertise and experience. Diagnostic and operative procedures are available in the office, while robotic procedures will be performed at the West Tennessee Surgery Center or at West Tennessee Healthcare’s main campus.

Dr. Ball, who helped start the robotics program at West Tennessee Healthcare in 2009, is the only surgeon in the area to perform pelvic floor relaxation surgery and also trains surgeons from other areas in how to do it.

“Dr. Wilson and I are considered master robotic surgeons, having performed more than 2,000 robotic procedures,” Dr. Ball says. “We are committed to being proactive about being at the forefront of this technology in order to provide more innovative ways in which to care for our patients, while emphasizing excellence in care.”

West Tennessee Medical Group GYN Specialists will begin seeing patients on April 6 in its office located at 379 Hospital Boulevard. The clinic will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. To schedule an appointment with one of their providers, call (731) 207-4663.
