Bio
Asad Azim, MD, is a board-certified surgical oncologist specializing in the treatment of complex gastrointestinal and soft tissue cancers. He earned his medical degree from King Edward Medical University, Pakistan’s oldest and most prestigious medical institution, where he graduated with top honors. He was awarded the Col. Bakhley Medal for ranking first in Surgery and the K. Sadiq Medal for achieving the highest overall marks in his professional examinations.
Following medical school, Dr. Azim completed a postdoctoral research fellowship at the University of Arizona in Tucson, where he authored more than 20 research articles, contributed to several book chapters, and received multiple national awards for his academic contributions.
He completed his General Surgery residency at New York Medical College – Westchester Medical Center, and went on to pursue a fellowship in Complex General Surgical Oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center – Temple Health in Philadelphia. There, he developed advanced expertise in treating upper gastrointestinal malignancies, including cancers of the pancreas, liver, stomach, and small bowel, as well as soft tissue tumors such as melanoma, sarcoma, and endocrine cancers of the thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal glands.
Dr. Asad Azim has published over 60 peer-reviewed scientific papers and serves as a reviewer for several medical journals.
Now practicing at West Tennessee Medical Group, Dr. Azim is excited to bring his specialized expertise to the region. He recently relocated to Tennessee to be closer to family, his brother is a pulmonologist and intensivist in Memphis. In his free time, Dr. Azim enjoys swimming, hiking, skiing, and spending quality time with his niece and nephew.
