Bio
Dr. Patel joined West Tennessee Healthcare in 2017 after completing his thoracic surgery fellowship at University of Kentucky. He obtained his undergraduate degrees at University of Alabama at Birmingham and his medical degree at University of South Alabama College of Medicine in Mobile, AL. He returned to Birmingham, AL to complete general surgery residency at Baptist Health Systems of Alabama before completing fellowship in Lexington, KY. Dr. Patel is board certified in General Surgery and Thoracic Surgery. Dr. Patel specializes in treating the full spectrum of cardiac and thoracic disease including the heart, lungs, and esophagus as well as selected vascular procedures. He has a special interest in minimally invasive and minimal access cardiac and thoracic surgery including robotic techniques and percutaneous valve intervention.
