Treatments

Patients will undergo a thorough diagnostic examination to identify the type of wound you have an the underlying problems causing the wound. After this, a program specifically tailored to your needs will be initiated based on the most effective treatment options.

Your treatment may include:

  • Infectious disease management
  • Physical therapy
  • Vascular evaluation
  • Laboratory tests
  • Nutrition counseling
  • Pain management
  • Diabetic education
  • Nuclear medicine
  • Radiology
  • Debridement

Once a treatment plan has begun, you will visit the Center on a regular basis for wound care. you will be instructed on how to administer your own wound care at home between visits. You will also be taught how to protect your wound from further complications. You are the most important part of the healing process. Keeping appointments and following directions clearly are critical to healing.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber

Offered in all WTH Wound Management locations, our hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) programs are the only outside the Memphis and Nashville area. HBOT is a treatment in which the patient breathes 100 percent oxygen inside a pressurized chamber. The therapy quickly delivers high concentrations of oxygen to the bloodstream, assists in the healing process of wounds, and is effective in fighting certain types of infections. HBOT stimulates the growth of new blood vessels and improves circulation. Therapy is given daily and the number of therapy visits you receive will depend on your diagnosis.

HBOT can be beneficial but you, the patient, must be committed to success and learning about the process. We encourage you to ask questions.

HBOT is used to treat a variety of conditions including:

  • Enhancement of healing in selected problem wounds
  • Crush injuries
  • Necrotizing soft tissue infections
  • Osteomyelitis
  • Radiation tissue damage
  • Skin grafts and flaps
  • Diabetic wounds of the lower extremity
  • Acute traumatic injury

HBOT is usually given on an outpatient basis. If you drive, you may drive yourself to the Center for therapy and should allow up to three hours for each visit. Medicare and most healthcare plans reimburse for HBOT for “currently accepted indications.” Our courteous and professional staff is available to assist you with all your personal insurance issues.

We look forward to serving you. Please contact a member of our staff with your questions and concerns regarding your therapy.

MISTⓇ Therapy

MIST Therapy, offered in our Paris, Tennessee location, is an innovative, non contact approach to wound healing. The system creates low-frequency ultrasound waves that produce and propel a gentle mist of sterile saline into the wound bed. The saline mist improves the transfer of ultrasound from the device without contact or pain to the patient. Unlike most wound therapies that are limited to the surface, the gentle sound waves of MIST Therapy stimulate the cells within and below the wound bed to accelerate the normal healing process.

When the gentle sound waves of the ultrasound are pushed against the tissue, it helps to remove the barriers that prevent healing. This process helps reduce bacteria, inflammation and MMP 9, all while disrupting biofilm. MIST Therapy also helps stimulate the damaged cells, which promotes healing through increased blood flow, increased angiogenesis and increased collagen deposition.

Ostomy Clinic

Patients who have an ostomy or who are preparing for ostomy surgery usually have many questions. An ostomy can be a life-changing event for many patients. Common problems can develop after having an ostomy surgery such as leaking, pouching and wafers not fitting correctly, or skin irritation may occur.

Our Wound Management location in Paris offers evaluations of your current pouching system to see if it is the right one for your lifestyle. We offer a comprehensive evaluation of patients with colostomies, ileostomies, urostomies and fistulas.
