Bio
Dr. Bethany J. Lawrence is the Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, where she leads clinical strategy, physician engagement, and quality initiatives across West Tennessee Healthcare. With more than two decades of experience in internal medicine and medical leadership, she is committed to advancing patient-centered care and strengthening healthcare delivery for the region.
A graduate of Murray State University (Magna Cum Laude, B.S. Biology) and the University of Louisville School of Medicine, Dr. Lawrence completed her internship in Internal Medicine at the University of Louisville and her residency at Indiana University School of Medicine, where she also served as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine. Board-certified in Internal Medicine since 2000, she has maintained active certification through recertification in 2020.
Dr. Bethany Lawrence has served in a variety of clinical and leadership roles, including Assistant Chief Medical Officer at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, Medical Director of Palliative Care Services, and physician in both hospital-based and private practice settings. In addition to her leadership responsibilities, she continues to provide care as a Palliative and Hospice Care physician with West Tennessee Medical Group.
Beyond her medical career, Dr. Bethany Lawrence is deeply engaged in her community. She has served on the University School of Jackson Board of Trustees, the Friends of Heart Advisory Board, and currently on the Board of Trustees at First United Methodist Church. A lifelong advocate for service, she was recognized as one of the 2024 Influential Women of Jackson, TN and received the Hope Giver Award from the Boys and Girls Club of Jackson-Madison County in 2008.
