Bio
Raphael Figueroa, MD, is a hospitalist who provides care for patients during their hospital stay. He is drawn to hospital medicine because of its fast-paced, collaborative nature and the opportunity to help patients through some of their most vulnerable moments.
Dr. Figueroa completed his family medicine residency at Larkin Community Hospital Palm Springs in Hialeah, Florida. His training included extensive experience in adult inpatient medicine, emergency medicine, telemetry and intensive care. He has cared for patients with a wide range of acute and complex medical conditions and understands the importance of looking at the whole picture when someone is hospitalized.
For Dr. Figueroa, good hospital care goes beyond treating an illness. He believes patients and families should understand what is happening, why certain decisions are being made and what to expect next. He works closely with nurses, pharmacists, specialists, case managers and other members of the care team to help make that experience as coordinated as possible.
His approach is grounded in clarity, compassion and consistency. Whether helping a patient through an unexpected illness or preparing someone for the transition home, Dr. Figueroa strives to be a steady source of guidance throughout the hospital stay.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Figueroa enjoys going to the gym, discovering new restaurants and traveling. He also values spending time with family and close friends, which helps him stay grounded and brings perspective to the care he provides.
