Volunteer Hospital Earns National Recognition for Excellence in Rural Stroke Care

MARTIN, TN. — West Tennessee Healthcare Volunteer Hospital has earned the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines®–Stroke Rural Silver Recognition, honoring the hospital’s commitment to providing high-quality stroke care for patients across Weakley County and surrounding communities.

When a stroke happens, every minute matters. Volunteer Hospital’s emergency physicians, nurses, clinical teams and EMS partners work together to quickly recognize stroke symptoms, begin treatment and coordinate the care patients need to give them the best possible chance for recovery.

“Providing exceptional care close to home is one of our greatest responsibilities,” said Kevin Decker, Chief Executive Officer of West Tennessee Healthcare Volunteer Hospital. “This recognition reflects the dedication of our physicians, nurses, emergency department team, EMS partners and clinical staff who work together every day to deliver the highest standard of stroke care for our community.”

Stroke remains one of the leading causes of death and long-term disability in the United States, making early recognition and treatment critical. The American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines®–Stroke Rural Recognition program honors rural hospitals that consistently follow nationally recognized, evidence-based guidelines for stroke care.

For families in Martin, Weakley County and the surrounding region, that means greater confidence that high-quality stroke care is available close to home when every second counts.

While this recognition is an honor, Volunteer Hospital’s focus remains the same: providing compassionate, high-quality care patients and families can count on when they need it most.
