Benefits of Cardiac Rehab

There are many benefits to cardiac rehab participation, including:

  • Decrease triglycerides and cholesterol levels, and resting heart rate
  • Help control blood pressure and diabetes
  • Increase exercise tolerance, energy levels, and tolerance to anxiety, depression and stress
  • Improve self-image, and resistance to other illnesses
  • Lessen chest pain during exercise and daily activities
  • Provide a realistic way to share an activity with friends

Emergency Medicine

Seeking care at your local emergency room (ER) instead of traveling to a larger hospital offers several important advantages, especially during urgent or life-threatening situations:

  • Faster Access and Shorter Wait Times: Your local Bolivar Hospital ER typically has shorter wait times, allowing you to be seen by doctor, undergo necessary tests, and begin treatment much more quickly–often within minutes of arrival. In emergencies, time is critical; rapid assessment and treatment can significantly improve outcomes and even save lives.
  • Convenience and Accessiblity: Your local Bolivar Hospital ER is strategically located in Benton County, making it more accessible during urgent situations. This proximity means you can reach care faster, and ambulances can transport you more quickly. 24/7 availability ensures you can receive immediate care at any time, without needing an appointment or waiting for regular office hours.
  • Comprehensive Emergency Care: Your local Bolivar Hopsiltal ER is equipped with advanced diagnostic tools (like X-rays, CT scanners, and labs) and critical care resources (such as ventilators and defribllators), enabling them to handle a wide range of emergencies efficiently.

Sleep Medicine

Sleep is a vital and active process, characterized by distinct stages with unique brain activity patterns. Far from being merely a period of rest, sleep is essential for survival and overall well-being. Research indicates that sleep deprivation can have detrimental effects on both humans and animals, leading to cognitive impairment, emotional dysregulation, and even death.

Poor sleep, a widespread problem affecting more than a third of adults, can elevate the risk of heart attacks, arrhythmias, stroke, dementia, and motor vehicle accidents. Since 1991, the Sleep Medicine team has been working with local healthcare providers to enhance patients’ sleep and overall health outcomes by addressing these concerns.

Swing Beds

A swing-bed is a service that allows a patient to transition from acute care to Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) care without leaving the hospital. This allows a patient to continue receiving services in the hospital even though acute care is no longer required.

Swing beds can be a vital healthcare option for those who need more recovery time before going home after an illness or surgery. Benefits for patients include:

  • Continuity of care: patients can recover in a familiar environment close to home, family and friends. Because the patient remains in the same hospital they may also be cared for by the same staff, which can improve care and eliminate the stress of transferring to an unfamiliar facility.
  • Faster recovery: swing beds offer on-site rehabilitation services such as physical, occupational, and speech therapy.
  • Better preparation for going home: swing beds help patients build the skills and confidence needed to manage their health at home.
